I have done it before, but can't remember the steps to removing clapping. I'd appreciate some help. TIA

^^ Fine if you just want to reduce the relative level of the general applause. But if you want to remove annoying claps, especially those made very close to you and at inappropriate times, may I suggest a click filter.

I do it the old fashioned way. Pencil~redraw.
Labor of love.

Same here. Zoom way in and you can use the pencil to redraw my waveforms :)

Could you guys go into a little more detail about how to redraw the sound wave and remove the clap spikes?
I have a recording with some crowd noise. There was a guy next to me clapping throughout most of the concert. He was the only one clapping, so there is an occasional but distinct popping sound during some of the songs.
I’m using Audacity. I tried zooming in and smoothing out the line, but it didn’t seem to make much difference. I’m not even sure if this is how it's done or what I should be looking for when I zoom in. Should I be trying to trace the line down the center? Are there any other techniques for removing clapping? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

highlight the portion > go the master section box > effect > vst plugins > declicker
WAY faster than redrawing with the pencil tool.

Thanks Gordon!! This is how I have done it previously.
highlight the portion > go the master section box > effect > vst plugins > declicker
WAY faster than redrawing with the pencil tool.

Is the declicker a separate download?

no. it's one of the vst plugins that come with wavelab.
