Cooker, I've been pondering moving to Linux on my laptop (perhaps for 24/96 recording) but was wondering what you've been reading / liking. I've had older versions of Red Hat, Mandrake, FreeBSD, the whole spectrum.... but was wondering what seems to be the best for multimedia?? Suggestions?

I'd probably go with something like Gentoo.  Distros like Mandrake and Red Hat (now Fedora) come with way too much stuff if all you want to do is audio.  Plus I really like Gentoo. ;D

Haven't looked at Gentoo - might have to check that out. i'll probably throw Mandrake down on my main desktop because i have it, and because it's the most wife-friendly, but i would probably recommend Debian to a user such as yourself who has plenty of experience with Linux.

If you are looking for any (all all possibly) Linux audio apps look no further than:

It will keep you busy for weeks. . . ;)
