Do you have a firewall set up?
Are you using a DSL/Home Network router (like this Linksys)?

I don't believe I have a firewall set up. I do have a modem similar to the linksys. It has the 4 Ethernet connections. Would hooking the modem up through USB resolve the problem or does that not matter? I appreciate your help....

There is one other question I forgot to ask: what operating system are you using? Windows XP has it's own internet connection firewall & that certainly would prevent others from accessing your FTP.

Also, I would ask a bit more about the chain. Mine goes like this:

DSL modem>Intesys DSL Router>'puter w/WinXP>BulletProof FTP Server software

Your modem is acting as a router, so you need to do a few tricks to get the routing to work.  Go to the serv-u support site, find the knowledge base and your answers are in the Top 10 Most Requested Knowledge Base Articles

You want Configuring Serv-U to Work with a Router/Firewall

I'd post a link but it's all frames and I can't figure it out.

When setting up the PASV port range, we recommend opening up ports 2000 - 2010. Then open up the same port range in your router and map them to the Serv-U server.

My question is mainly on the second sentance. How would this be done?

I think I may have figured it out. Could someone give this a try?
192.168.0.2 or maybe 69.11.210.138

I couldn't get through on 69.11.210.138:

"A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond."

192.168.0.2 definitely won't work as that's an internal non-internet IP address, I assume for the server machine.

Same problem.  FWIW, I'm able to ping away, just can't seem to connect to the server for some reason - gotta be a server/firewall config issue.

yeah I opened ports 2000-2010 like the help page suggested. Do you  have to connect in passive mode?

Ok I made a change. Do you still have the same problem?
