Topic: GarageBand

i'm a Mac user and have been using GarageBand for basic EQ, creating fades and adjusting levels.  it's easy to use and does the basic stuff pretty well.  but it sucks for splitting tracks, can only export in 16 bit, and has a 2GB file size restriction.  i've worked around the track splitting issue by using Fission, which i love, but it's a one trick pony. 

other than GarageBand (which i don't see being used by other tapers... even tapers that are Mac users), what software can export files in 24 bit, doesn't have a 2GB file size limit, and is very intuitive and easy to use? 

i know a lot of people are fans of Audacity, but i find it very tedious.  Adobe Audition for Mac intrigues me, but i tried the beta version and it wasn't as easy as i hoped it would be.  i'd appreciate suggestions and feedback.  thanks.

This doesn't entirely answer your question (though it has been answered in plenty of other threads) but the only other software that I've encountered for Mac that has a 2GB limit is Wavelab 7. I can't figure out why though since the Windows counterpart doesn't....maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Sound Studio is the easiest I've found for 2 track but it's kind of a pain for multitrack work. For the record I freaking hate Audacity and love Adobe Audition for multitrack. Search the threads for more info as I believe just about every piece of Mac software has been covered before.

i use audacity which is free but takes a little to figure out
fwiw guitar center is doing free seminars on sat morning on who to use garageband, actually wish I could make them

Don't personally have a Mac but a friend with one is happy with audacity.
