Topic: Whats a good for lap top for live recordings

I know this may stur up some differences is models etc.  What I really need to know is what accessories shouyld I have built in or purchased with the system.  Should I get the Lap top I have rebuilt?  Other tapers have had to have this same issue with wanting digital transfers into a computer.  C4>XLR>UA5-w>7 pin>D8   ?        some small unit would be so cool

some of the smaller sony vio work well, the picture books are even better since they are so small. Can't go wrong with an ibook or the small 12" powerbooks

lots of good choices. several people here runnign the sony vaio picturebooks and im running the pcg-srx87 which is one size bigger than the picturebook.

i think i see picturebooks and ibook in the field the most these days

Is there an external devise that will enable me to go from my D8>cdr ?  Plug and burn kind or thing...it would be cool!  Shure it take some kind of crazy cable too.

lots of external and internal soundcards that would allow digital and analog tranfers from you d8 > laptop/pc > cdr

just to name  few, not all are bit perfect on the digital transfer though

if you just want plug and burn maybe a cdr burner that is standalone is what you need, but you would still have to use EAC > pc to track it out
