Phantom power question
« on: May 15, 2013, 06:46:41 PM »
I just purchased my first set of mics that phantom powered. If I am running them into a niant bigbox>pmd670 can I supply the power just from the preamp or does the recorder need set to phantom power as well? I would be running line in.

The Big Box supplies the Phantom power and connect the Big Box to the line in on the PMD670 not the mic in (you don't need the extra amplification stage). There is one Big Box that has a Phantom switch on it so you could defeat the phantom power. If this is that box you would only use that with dynamic or self powered mics.
Sony C38B's --> Lunatec V2-->PMD661
B-3's --> Tinybox 1.5 --> PCM-M10
