Archiving music with JB3
« on: February 18, 2004, 01:31:06 PM »
With the JB3, if you record a lot of shows you obviously can't keep the music on the hard drive, you need to get rid of it to free up space.  What do you guys do to archive it?  Do you just burn it to CD-R as a WAV file?  Do you do double backups, in case a CD-R goes bad?  Do you do SHN or FLAC, or something similar?  I am curious to know, as it's about time I start archiving all of my JB3 recorded material.

Because nothing says "I have lots of money and am sort of confused as to how to spend it" like Bose.

T:  NJB3>USB>WAV>CDWave>MKW (SHN w/ .skt appended)

I then store my SHNs on CDRs.  I have several 1000.

Make sense???

compressing to SHN or FLAC is a good idea, I prefer FLAC.  if you record at 48kHz, it's also a good idea to keep a FLAC (or SHN) copy of the 48kHz files as well, before you do any tracking or editing or anything else.  that way, you've always got a copy of the original before anything was done in post...
