Does anyone know who I should talk to on here about having the lemos cut off my dpas and have them replaced with one 1/8 plug?  Should I have DPA do it?

I found out today that taking the grills off the 4061s makes for an even more flat frequency response.
This was from Mr. Rich Mays(http://www.sonarerecordings.com/index.html), as told to him by someone in the DPA camp. I will try it out soon.

The thing I don't get is if they're omnis, how does the direction matter?

Because even omnis are slightly directional at higher frequencies.  Take the 4061s:

You can see at 20kHz they're -5dB at 180ยบ, for example.  Now, whether or not it's audible running them aligned v. not, I don't know since I don't run these mics, but I'd say probably not.
