Read about it somewhere, but I can't seem to find it any longer. Anyway, I am in contact with Ted about making a cable to connect my Mixpre-D digital to any recorder with digital input (which in most cases is spdif). In this case it's a R44.
Ted (tgakidis) told me it is possible to build a xlr > RCA digital cable tying pin 2&3 together on the xlr side, but has anyone done that with a Mixpre-D? Is there something to watch out for or keep in mind. Otherwise, I will ask Ted to make one and see what happens.

Correction: I would be tying pins 1&3 together.

It may have been this recent thread but I'm sure there are others.

Ted aksed me to comment on this, since I bought one of these exact cables from him early this year...
Here is my reply to his PM:
I'd love to, but I can give no real input... I never bought the MixPre-D since we got preggers instead... and I use a HD-P2 and not a 661...
Howver, I can say that I have used your cable to do bit-perfect transfers via the AES output on my R500 > SPDIF input on my HD-P2... Of course, this means nothing to in the 24bit realm, but it does demonstrate that your cable will pass/convert AES>SPDIF bit-perfectly...
Hope that helps!!!
Oh, Ted's cable was a work of art... I wanted to sleep with it, but my wife told me no...

I got one from DigiGal. She does quality work. She also did a ext. battery cable and modified a ac>dc power supply for my MixPre-D.
