Title: Camcorder vibration

I have found that a Canon HV20 is much more affected by vibration than my 3CCD Panasonic.  Apparently, many other HV20/HV30 users have had  issues with vibration and/or "rolling shutter".  Despite this, they seem to be very popular.  Has anybody else here dealt with this and come up with an inexpensive solution? Foam, sand bags?

One of the nice things about the more expensive tripods (I have a bogen 3033) is that the feet have a retractable pointy nub that works great outside on the ground, but not so great inside on a hard surface.  I have no idea if the rubber feet on the stand would absorb the vibrations that you mention, but that was my first reaction...that on my tripod I'd just retract the metal nubs so that there's only rubber in contact with the floor to act as a shock absorber.  I doubt that this little bit of trivia about my Bogen tripod helps you in the least though.   :-\

mule, that looks like a good idea.  I think I'll just try to find some good foam at a store around here before I trouble you with it.  Have you found that a particular type of foam works better than others?  I have a very important show to record Friday so I hope it works.

tonedeaf, I don't think my Bogen tripods have the retractable nubs.  Just the rubber feet.  They're solid tripods and quite heavy.  I've never had an issue with vibration until I got this HV20.

I bought them at the Scuba Diving shop, they're flotation devices used in the bottom of rope bags

I made foam pads that are layered a few times then covered in jean cloth then i tape the shit out of  them under the tripod ,I have these problems with my Hv30 and Xh a1 at ween shows, now i just do it for any shows i videotape now to stop the vibration problem Ill post some pics soon
