as devices get smaller and smaller, real estate becomes a premium. it's a well known fact that Sound Devices' pres such as the MP-2, MixPre, 722 and the Shure FP-24 (rebranded MixPre) have spacing for the female input panel mount XLRs very close to each other thus rendering the usage of the standard Neutrik Right Angle XLRs useless.
i put on my thinking caps and came up with a design so we can choose to run RA connectors. the xlrs are machined down to the shell collar, sanded and buffed for a smooth finish. right angle entry is achieved by making a notch on the side and the cable is restrained by a rubber bushing. then electronic grade potting epoxy is used to fill in the xlr.

cable is silver clad. braiding is Techflex. i thought of using Canare Mini-Starquad, but the OD was too large, so i went with the MiAGi-II wire.

wow, looks very nice

very sweet marc...any way I can get that type of setup for my 722 ICs...that is unless you have finished them...I would need it so the cables come off at the top of the unit though...

Geez man - how many brilliant designs are you gonna come up with in a year. You do realize that there is no current "Best New Taping Product of the Year" award? So far this week we've seen Bean's new Magical Mystery Box, the SBM-1 and now these. If there were such an award, I think you've won, so you can take some time off for things like sleeping and eating now. ;)

When I thought that Marc was done with his power box, I scroll down to find this.

AT853RX (Mike S.) actually was the first on this board to come up with this idea.

guys;
thanks all for the kind words about these gadgets. i'm just trying to spread some robust, field worthy stuff that would benefit us tapers and make them available to all.

What length are you planning to make these? What's the other end, Neutriks? I made my own XLRs, but this is out of my league! +T!

Marc is making me a 3' right angle 3.5mm > right angle XLRs for my 722. My cables are going to come out at 1 o'clock instead of 5 o'clock in the pictures. I'll post pics, but my 722 might not come for another 2-3 weeks.
-
makes me want them so much more, just waiting to see if i get actives as that'll determine long or short cables!
-
just got back from vacation and arizona and wow, i might have to pick up a pair of these for
my mp-2, +T
-
I've seen these in person......SOLID!
-
i agree, the clarity these puppies put off is prolly in a caliber of 600 dollar cables IMO

my apologies to everyone who's waiting for these special cables. no excuses but work, work, travel and more work.
i have all the xlrs (20 of them!!) machined down, polished and specified cable angles drilled. all i have to do is assemble them and epoxy fill.

Marc, am I officially on that waiting list? If not, can you please add me? I know I haven't paid yet, so if that was a prereq, please PM me your address.
