DPA CXO4000 (XY/ortf bar)
« on: February 19, 2004, 12:09:32 PM »
Anybody know how much these things cost? I think they might fit my mics, and I need a new bar as my last one fell out of my backpack on the way to a show and alas, was crushed to smithereens in the Middle of Comm ave. Thanks!

Dale pro Audio. Last time I checked they were doing them the cheapest. They list for $106. I got mine for like $95.

and when you get it, make sure you order some of those mother fucking rubberbands, you are sure to lose one or more at some point. Nothing like shooting one off into the crowd, trying to get x-y together.  >:(

You can go to your local hardware store and look around in the o-ring section. I found some at True Value that fit the CXO4000.

As far as the scratching, it seems to be pretty minor after a couple years of using my 4022's. I was thinking some sort of polymer coating you could paint or spray coat on would be nice for preventing this sort of scratching. But to be honest I haven't really worried about it since I don't think I will ever sell these mics. (unless DPA comes out with an extended bandwith mic like the CMC6xt)

Peace out-
Ben

So,...... Am I the only one that finds issue in the xy, xy/ortf mount scratching the mic and damaging the finish?
I ordered one and tried it for one mounting and felt it scratching on the way into the mount, and immediately took it off and returned it.

So at this point, I'll be using my own din and ortf bar and schoeps a20s, and working towards figuring an xy mount.

Why'd you return it? You coulda sold it to me!
Out of the game … for now?

I hear that Moke may have a new point of view on the DPA holder CX04000.

Is this thing only for the DPAs or would it be suitable for other 19mm actives?

yeah, it's got a groove on the mic that the mount wraps halfway around and then an elastic band to hold the mic in place.  so it probably won't work with other caps very well.  what caps are you referring to?

on another note, now much fun is it to go crawling around on the floor looking for the little elastic thing that flies off the DPA ortf mount as you're trying to stretch it around the mics 10 minutes before the lights come down??  :P

yeah, the grooves on the 4022's do help alot but if you can find one to borrow, it would'nt hurt to try. I'm pretty sure the holder would scratch up other caps quite easely, though.
