ck1/ck31/ck61 cardoid caps ??? What's the difference?
« on: July 04, 2005, 01:54:33 AM »
Hey y'all,
I'm getting a pair of AKG 480's w/ck61 cardiod caps.  Very stoked!!!
I'm looking around at different caps for these mics & I've found several "cardiod" caps.  I see a ck1, a ck31 and a ck61!?
What is the difference?  Is one any better than the others?
I want to pick up a pair of hyper caps, which ones should I go for ck3, ck33, ck63?

Any info or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

With the 480 bodies you can ONLY use the ck6x series of caps.  You must be getting the ck61 caps.

Congrats for the 481's you'll love them.  +t

ck1 caps are cardioids for the AKG 460 active cable setup, same deal with ck3 (hypers).

I could be wrong, but I think ck31 and ck33 are the caps used with the old c451 bodies.

Anyway, as OFOTD already explained, you'll have to use the ck61/ck62 (omni)/ck63 caps with 480s.

actually the CK1, CK2, CK3 were for the original 451 modular series.  The actives series ended with x (CK1x, CK2x, CK3x).  The 3 series are for a podium/choir mic line, the capsules go with a series of goosenecks/hanging modules. Yes Im an AKG addict and know way too much inane crap about them....Im a geek. :P
