I'm curious...

who out there has an R4 and either set of these mics ?
I'd really like to see a direct comp.  both mics set up the same, in the same spot, running into an R4 w/the same mods (or not) on all channels.

as a new pair of beyers is about 1-200 cheaper than a used pair of 184s...., and i'm getting antsy for a 2nd pair of mics.  I'm leaning towards the beyers but i've always been such a neumann slut...its hard to give up the past passions.

listening to various samples randomly on archive doesn't interest me at all..

If you do a search, there was a comp on gearslutz maybe 1.5-2 years ago between mg300, km84, and mc930.  Of course it wasn't a PA recording comp but a studio comp.  Needless to say I sold my old mics (peluso's) a couple days later and have been with beyer ever since.  Rockin' the older 803's now, sold the 930's.

Try something different, you might get pleasantly surprised.  If you don't like them, they sell really easy and it's not like you had thousands invested anyways.

to add:  somewhere on this board was a comp, when I sent Shawn my mnc930's.  Akg's vs. beyer (I know, not what you want).  There is also a pseudo comp between 930 and km140.  It just happened that way.  It's on the archive.  I'll try to find the link and let you listen.  Both mics on the same stand, both mics ran to an oade w-mod ua-5.  It was a real eye opener.

Yeah I've got the Beyers and a Tmod R4 and I also had the KM184s at one time... The beyers are much better then KM184 in my opinion.

I've got beyers and a stock R4.
