Ca 14 shock mounting
« on: August 10, 2013, 01:08:55 PM »
Hi I just bought a used set of ca 14 mics. Does anyone know of a small enough shock mount that I could put them in?

Thanks

I use Sabra-Som SSM-1 and they should fit just about any mic.

If theyre clipless, I would buy a DINa/DIN bar and mount them on that with a lil piece of tape around the ca14 body of the mic. Then I use Schoeps A20/A20S and Shure A53M Shockmounts. Works like a charm ;)

Do you mean a NOLA DINa bar? I'm planning on buying one for my clipless ca14's to mount in a hat. Would that be possible?

Whatever DIN bar you can find will work as long as its meant to fit Schoeps ;)

Keep in mind the distance between the center of the capsules will be about 3 cm shorter because the CA14 is much shorter than a schoeps cap + collete.  So a DIN schoeps bar = DIN-A for Church mics.  Jon (followinbob) sold me a partial set of his modular schoeps "one bar" setup and yes, my CA-14s fit great with a layer of painter's tape around the base.  Once I get a longer center section, I'll post pics of what this looks like for DIN, DINa, and ORTF.

True, but it's clos enuf IMO. That's just like the Schoeps CMRs. They're longer than say a KCY/KC5 is 8)
