Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8 L
« on: July 30, 2008, 01:41:39 PM »
Hi, i'm relatively new to this part of the forum although i used to tape shows for years and have been on this site for some time now.  I've been doing more serious digital photography for a few years now.  Picked up a 350D & a Canon 17-85 f/4.0-5.6 IS to start.  Then i added a Canon 50mm 1.8 & a Canon 70-200 F4.  Well today I pulled a trigger on a real gem of a lens and am super stoked to be adding this to my arsenal.  Just ordered the 24-70 2.8 from amazon today and it should be at my house tomorrow so I should get a chance to play around with it over the weekend.

Happy Shooting!

It is a great piece of glass, although i have not made it to a show yet with this beauty.  I did do some casual shooting at a botanical garden and was happy with the results.

I've got Tea Leaf Green on saturday so i'll post my results.........

I think i'm also about to upgrade my 70-200f4 to 70-200f2.8.  I dont think i can quite afford the extra $500 or whatever to go IS but i think the 2.8 alone will help me a lot and be a very nice upgrade.

Anyone looking for an f4 the thing is probably 12 months old or less totally mint.

Ed,

Are you shooting TLG at the Madison show?  I'm going to be there but was not sure what the venue/photo situation is.  usually Tea Leaf is very relaxed but you never know.  I might have to bring my camera if they are cool with photo.

Jake: What's this?
Elwood: What?
Jake: This car. This stupid car. Where's the Cadillac? The Caddy? Where's the Caddy?
Elwood: The what?
Jake: The Cadillac we used to have. The Blues Mobile!
Elwood: I traded it.
Jake: You traded the Blues Mobile for this?
Elwood: No. For a microphone.
Jake: A microphone? Okay I can see that.

Phano: Yes I will be at TLG on saturday.  Tea Leaf is very cool with photo, just be respectful to the band and fans of course.

The venue is interesting.  It's a free show outside at the Union, so there isnt really any type of security, maybe some students walking around because the university sponsors the event.  The only thing is the stage is TINY and you pretty much need to be in the front row to be shooting.  Weather looks like it will be great - Rain done by noon.  9pm showtime forecast says 70 degrees and clear, i think it will be packed i plan on getting there early.

It is an absolutely fantastic place to see a show.  Beauitful, right on the lake.  Great beer selection.  One of my favorite places for a show.  Tough to beat on a nice day.  If the weather for some reason goes bad they move it inside.
