I was thinking about this the other day. Is it possible to do Mods on PCI soundcards ? If was thinking that the Analog front end and DACs on the boards could be swapped out similar to the way folks do the Grahman Patten and UA-5 Mods. I am I completely wrong in my assumption the electroncs are similar / same as other EQ.

generally the problem with soundcards is the environment that they "live" in -- the inside of a pc. It's full of interference-causing electromagnetic radiation that will add noise/distortion to the analog signal being processed in the computer. Thus, it's better to have the a>d section of the soundcard sit outside of the computer (such as in a UA5) and only feed a digital signal into the pc.
