I have a total of 36 24/96 wav files after splitting them in cdwav and saving as 24-bit wav files that have a total size of 4.99 GB (5,366,037,124 bytes).

When I split and save them directly as flac files using cdwav, the total size is 4.91 GB (5,277,039,166 bytes).

So the compression saved about .08 GB on almost 5GB to start.

Is this a known issue? I know my workaround is to use flac frontend to compress the 24bit wavs to flac but it was more convenient just doing it all in cdwav.

download the latest version of CD Wave, in which the latest version of FLAC is implemented (FLAC v1.2.1).
The latest version of FLAC gets much better compression ratios.
