Topic: DVD player on lappy issue/ DVD > computer monitor playback

To my dismay, my best friend working on the road (laptop) has been griefas of late.  It will play back audio discs perfectly, but when I try to play a movie, the audio and video are jerky and slow.  I ran a head cleaner with no luck.

  I run a nice large  LG monitor off of my laptop to watch movies with killer results.  My question is if there is a dvd player with a USB out put out there, or one I can plug the monitor directly into...and maybe run audio off of the laptop.

  Any help is appreciated...
