Multitrack software suggestions/Processor usage??
« on: July 26, 2004, 10:59:59 AM »
Any suggestions for PC Multitrack (must do at least 4) software above and beyond the usual suspects??  I've tried Nuendo, Cakewalk, Vegas, Audition.  I really like Nuendo, but it's hitting like 90% processor usage on my lappy when taping, i'm a bit worried about that :'(  Audition has low usage, but it seems to record everything in 16 or 32 bit.   Plus the whole damn thing is pretty cryptic...

I've been using this freeware for 4 track, 24 bit @ 44.1 and it seems stable with low cpu usage.  My only beef is the meters are too small and not resizeable.  Definitely spend a few minutes reading about how it's set up before trying it out.  Once you get the 'waver' concept, it's easy.  http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/

oh yeah - one other key feature.  If you lappy dies, the wave files are still there...no funny stuff needed to recover them.
