Topic: help turning WAV into tracks then FLAC

hello all, i hope everyone is having a good stat to 2006.

I use PEAK- PRO for my editing--normalizing, eq, all that stuff--wwell once I get the WAV file sounding good then I am totally clueless--I imagine track splitting or (seperating th songs would be next) then use Mkwact to put inot FLAC format,

but as you see I took the WAV files edited them, but what is next---track slitting--then encodne using mkwact(i use a Mac)--I want to be able to put the shows up for torrents--is there a how to manual for dummies.

you lost me at mac but....I was gonna say cd wave and then flac frontend.   for mac scott browns ?? does it all.  I think.

Here's what I use for a Mac.  Since you already have your show tracked:

Check for/fix SBEs and convert to FLAC and make fingerprints with xACT:

Create and share your torrent using Azureus:

Note: the tracker address he gives for etree may be out of date, be sure to check that against the instructions on the etree site.  The same general approach, just changing the tracker address, should also work for other sites like Dime, etc.

i'm still using peak 4, but i think the same principals will apply. i assume you already know how to make track markers (apple-M or Actions > New Marker or there is a toolbar button that looks like a down arrow)

first make regions (regions are the segments of music between the markers):

Actions > Markers to Regions 


then to separate the regions to individual tracks:

File > Export Regions

navigate to a location to save and name the regions/tracks

now peak does not really have a "quantize to cd frame" utility so after the tracks are split, use xAct (can be found at versiontracker here:   http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21952  among other places) to align on sector boundaries and it will also convert it to flac. as mentioned above. xAct is a great tool for audio compression, employing shn, flac, ape, shntool, and cd ripping
