Topic: audiophile usb digi noise

 I run my D8>audiophile usb>cpu>SF I've been getting some random digi noise on what I convert. Same Dat tape sounds fine when run through the R500 over my stereo, but somewhere in the conversion I end up with digi noise. Wondering if anyone else has runn across this?
I've cleaned the head on the D8, tried different usb cable, coax cable...Thinking I might just get a sound card, but seems like a waste of money if I already have the audiophile

no help other than is your pc optimized for transferring dats? there are many tutorials online to help achieve that

thanks, i've emailed M-audio with the problem. just waiting on a reply. Very odd.
If i record 16/48(44.10 is it worth getting a 26/96 card just to have the capiability later?

could it be in SF anti-alaising
"Aliasing

A type of distortion that occurs when digitally recording high frequencies with a low sample rate. For example, in a motion picture, when a car's wheels appear to slowly spin backward while the car is quickly moving forward, you are seeing the effects of aliasing. Similarly, when you try to record a frequency greater than one half of the sampling rate (the Nyquist Frequency), instead of hearing a high pitch, you may hear a low-frequency rumble.

To prevent aliasing, an anti-aliasing filter is used to remove high frequencies before recording. Once the sound has been recorded, aliasing distortion is impossible to remove without also removing other frequencies from the sound. This same anti-aliasing filter must be applied when resampling to a lower sample rate."

Doe sthis sound like something that could be causing the problem. Sorry for my ignorance with this.  I wish I could turn this feature off to test to see if it is the cause.
