Soundforge (mix down)

Does SF have a multi-track view like CEP?  Is there an easy way to mix two files together to make one.   (ie.  adding the encore to the 1st set)

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Sound Forge is a two track editing program, so it does not have a multi-track view.

If all you want to do is add the encores to the end of the 1st set you can do a copy and paste. Just open the encore and the 1st set. Go to the encore window and select all. Click copy. Go back to the 1st set window. Make sure your cursor is at the end of the first set and click paste. I generally create a region for both the 1st set and the encore to make it easier for me to find the point of the cut and paste, and make sure there is no audible click.

There are some other options depending on what version of Sound Forge you are using, but a copy and paste is probably the simplest.

I hope that helps.

Take care,

T.

Use Vegas instead of SF if you have access to the whole Sony suite. Otherwise, you're better off finding something else besides SF.

Vegas can handle unlimited tracks/buses/plugins (and video too for that matter).

Audacity has multi-track capability and is free.

But I don't understand why you need it.  If all you want to do is add the encores to the 1st set for playback, just track out the show like you normally would and then include the encore tracks when burning the 1st disc.  So, your original track list would like like this:

d1t01
d1t02
d1t03

d2t01
d2t02
d2t03
d2t04-encore
d2t05-encore

When burning, simply arrange like this:

d1t01
d1t02
d1t03
d2t04-encore
d2t05-encore

d2t01
d2t02
d2t03

Or (better yet, IMO) just use an extra disc and leave the track order intact.
