Title: Need a suggestion for a decent Pre
Post by: tbrown4 on April 09, 2005, 07:40:45 PM
Hey folks,

I am new to taping. I have a JB3 which I have been using to get some soundboard recordings. I love it.

Now I want to use some mic's for audience pulls.  I would like your suggestions for a simple Pre-amp to use with two mics.  I'm looking for something that is practical and affordible.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

-Tim

I think my budget would be the $50 - $200 range, but then again I do understand that you get what you pay for. I really do not know even a ballpark figure of what I'm gettin myself into:-)

This would be used for open taping.

Line transformers will give you some fixed gain and are cheaper than a preamp ...

You should choose some mics first. Depending on which mics you choose, your criteria for selecting the preamp or preamp and a/d will vary.
