Weird Static on tape
« on: November 06, 2006, 02:29:02 PM »
Any clue what might cause this?  ??? ???  I have listened to the whole first set, and its only in this one spot.  Hopefully thats the only place it shows up.  Any way to fix it?  Looks like its affected both channels.  I can't think of any way to fix that without splicing someone elses recording.  Never seen anything like this before.....  :-\ :(

How about an audio sample?

How about an audio sample?

That probably would have helped.  Had to compress to mp3 in order to post.  The static is right around 5 second (right in the middle of this 10 second clip).

Thanks for any help.

Checked the spread between pins in the V3 connector recently?  My money's on the V3 power cable / pin.  Power up, record, and gently jostle around the power connector to see if you can duplicate the issue.  Regardless of duplication, I'd pry the pins apart ever so gently to get a bit more of a gap and ensure a solid connection between the pins and the center of the power plug.

I don't know of a way to fix it other than to remove the offending section and crossfade.  Or, just leave it (which is probably what I'd do).

Alright Brian, I'll have to give that a try.  Thanks for listening and your input.  +t
