Topic: How To Set Up Mics On An Adjustable Vert Bar

hey now , i had a quick question ,  i was curious the proper way to mount mics on an adjustable vert bar.. i tried mounting them both on top and when attempting xy they hit each other unless you point 1 slightly down.. now i currently have 1 mic on top and the other mounted "upside down" ,  and this works fine ,  how does this affect technique as far as xy or ortf ,  im debating on both for tonite and didnt know if the distance between the 2 affecting anything..  ok sorry for the ramble   peace

hey now ,  this is one from micsupply,  similar to the adjustable 1 that soncsense sells, it pivots on the 2 mounting nuts and then as the 5/8 adapters on both ends,  i just flipped 1 upside down and mounted it that way,  so as far as xy or ortf ,  for x/y the capsules should be crossing but very close and ortf the capsule get spread ,  is this correct ,  tonite's my first gig so i have all the good jitters ..

hey now , yea you got it right , im using the wrong terminoly , its actually an adjustable t-bar not vert bar,  sorry ,  my confusion is determining the proper spacing ,  how can you tell the 90 - 120 degree differences ,  everything looks 90 to me  ,  please excuse my ignorance  peace now

..well i guess if im running hypercards ortf is pointless anyway sooo we shall see how it goes ,  ill be running about 15-20 ft from the stage in a porrly laid out venue,  the stage is almost cady-corned , and the stacks aim very off center .. peace now

If your mics look like this: |_ then its a 90 degree angle. If it looks like this: \_ Then its closer to 120 degrees... more like 135 degrees.


When in doubt, bust out the protractor!
