How can I check the polarity of cables..?
« on: January 03, 2013, 12:43:20 PM »
I had a pair of cables made to reverse polarity to compensate for the absolute polarity error in the ad2k+

Now I can't remember which pair it is. Can I test this with a multimeter..? How would I do this? I assume it is like checking for positive and ground on a power cable, but I was curious how to do this with xlrs.

Thanks, in advance, for the help.

Use an Ohm-meter or continuity tester to check that pin 2 on one end of the cable conects to pin 2 on the other end (or rather, the female socket for pin 2).  If so the cable is not reversed polarity.  Pin 3 sould be the same.

If pin 2 on one end connects to pin 3 on the other (and vice versa), you have a reverse polarity cable.
