Title: starquad vs. twisted pair?
Post by: Lil Kim Jong-Il on September 06, 2011, 11:04:38 AM
Does anyone have insight into using twisted pair for patch cables instead of star-quad?

I need to build various patch cables. The runs are pretty short, 8" to 30", and either live in my bag or between my deck and the playback system so the potential sources for interference are limited. Seems like I could save some money and cable bulk by using shielded twisted pair.

I knew that twisted pair was the right answer but just wanted some support from people with a wider experience than mine.

I've used canare star-quad for patch cables because I had the left-over from making mic cables. This time I'm starting without any scraps so thought to try something different.

Thanks!  :)
