Broken 7 Pin (advice)
« on: January 11, 2004, 11:38:05 AM »
Hey Everybody,
My 7pin has quit giving signal.  I've been kinda slow on getting it fixed since I only really use it to provide patches out of the extra out on the sbm.  In any case, I was thinking about pulling it apart myself and trying to figure it out but I've never really done such a thing.  am i opening a big can of worms or is it fairly self explanitory once i get in.

thanks,
gray

Not sure about warranty, but I've had mixed results - had one fixed free, another for $15.

its an oade.  have no idea about warranty or not but i doubt it since i've had it since 98.  i'll give it a shot though.

Open it up and fix it, it really isn'
t too bad in there if you have soldering skills and an eye for what wires are going where.

do not begin to solder a 7pin if you dont know what you are doing.  the solder points in there are pretty small and take a pretty steady hand and a real good knowledge of whats going on in there to do it right.  pay oade to fix it.  not worth saving 15 bucks to risk damaging the cable for good.
