Hi,
I'm just wondering what's the "best" way to split whole show into tracks? I have about 5 shows I could use splitting on. :) Should I just go the old select-and-cut method, or is there any "faster" or more precise way?

CD Wave is very simple to use.

If you use cut and paste as a new file for each track you are doing it the hard way, and probably creating sector boundry errors.
Use a program like CD Wave and it will allow you to mark where you want the splits, name the files sequentially for you, and not cause any SBE's.
Like vanark said, it is very simple to use.

What is a good mac based program for doing this? Thanks

For free, Audacity... I use Sound Studio, which I bought for like $35 (version 2) but now version 3 is $80. A little steep for just tracking. :-\
Alternately, you could figure out where you want to put your split points, write a cue sheet, and feed it into xACT on the "shntool" tab, using the split function.

so audacity cuts on sector boundaries?

I have never done it, but I think if you turn on the Snap To feature, it will not create SBE's

It doesn't necessarily, but xACT will fix SBE's while it creates FLACs, if you use the "fix SBE" tab.

Fastest and Easiest is never the most accurate. I am very persnickity to where my splits are, e.g., right before the song starts, which might include a brief introduction, "This next song is a cut we did off our second album....." No software is going to do that for me, I bracket the applause section and place the split, a cue point in Goldwave, right on the money.

And why can't you do that with CD Wave? You can advance sector by sector until you get the spot you want.

Amadeus Pro..... you can drop markes, then with one step you can align them all so you get no sbe's..... You can then split by markers to wav, flac, aiff.... ect..... It can also make a .cue and xAct can be used to split if desired. I love the fact that it can make a .cue. I always like having those to save with masters.
