problems with Squeezbox setup
« on: June 21, 2007, 02:10:14 PM »
Anyone with some specific knowledge want to help get this SB3 up and running.  I'm running OS X version 10.4.10 if that makes a differnce.  Thanks.

A description of what you've done so far, the problem(s) you're experiencing, and the steps you've taken in an attempt to address the problem(s) may help others help you.

I can get the unit to connect to my network but once I get to the IP address part I'm stuck.  It can't obtain an IP adress automatically (DHCP).  From there I'm not suer where to go as far as specifiying a static IP address.  Does this make any sense?

what is the ip address, netmask, and default gateway of your computer?

ip adress:  74.71.141.167
subnet mask:  255.255.240.0

Not sure where to find the default gateway.  I have to run to work anyway.  Hopefully I'll be able to get this worked out tomorrow  Thanks.

yar, looks like that there is an intenet IP... so unless your ISP is dolling out more than one, you maybe up the creek.  You don't happen to have a Natting router around do you?  you can pick one up on the cheap (most 'broadband routers' will do this) so you can use your single public IP to hide a set of internal addresses.

Okay I'm up and running.  I pulled out the wireless router and everything is cool.  Second question.  I bought a 500gb external hard drive.  I plan on ripping tons of cds to flac and storing them on this.  How do I point the SB3 to this HD?

How do I point the SB3 to this HD?

SlimServer only supports a single audio directory in its configuration.  The workaround:  simply create a shortcut in your main audio folder that points to the external HD.

damn, a shortcut works?  sweet.  thanks brian.

fwiw, there's a multi-library plugin for slimserver, but alas, I've not used it.

Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.
