What are you looking to do?  And how much of it?

If you've got a video camera with a firewire out, and your workload isn't giant, you may just want to pass through your camera. Or have your older format media converted  then capture using the camera.

There are some lower cost (not pro level) options out there.  The popular one seems to be the Dazzle DV Bridge , or something to that effect, but reviews I;e read have been shakey at best.

The Dazzle shit sucks.

Anything by Canopus is the way to go.  The ADVC-110 is probably a good choice (I have the ADVC-100 and love it)

The ADVC110 looks great.

Anyone have any internal cards? Seems very hard to come by..

We use an Aja La (or Lo can't remember) at work and have had no problems.  But that's work's money not mine! Can;t remeber what we paid for it but I don;t think it was way ovver the top.
