Hey guys,

Been a while but I've been around. Great to meet some other tapers at the Echo in L.A. the other night.

I got this recording of Baseball Project there and I think it sounds pretty good. Only thing that bugs me is that it sounds too split left / right, and lacking in the "center". Does that make sense? Imagine you were standing there looking straight at the performers. It seems to be missing that center / middle area.

Here's the samples, let me know your thoughts please. I've only swapped the channels (I switched the mics - left on right, right on left - by accident) and normalized.

I've not listened to the samples, but you might consider channel mixing.  Add some percentage of the L to the R, and vice versa.  This may create more common signal across the two channels and provide a more centered sound.  Experiment with the percentage until it sounds good to your ears.

Church Cards > Church stc-9000 > R-09. In a DIN config, about 7.5 feet up. It seems like the config was a little too wide for the club, as in the mics were pointing more at the walls than the monitors in front of them.

Brian - I was playing with that but I wasn't sure if that was cheating... :P I'm going to play more with it right now.

I use panning a lot these days...

For stage taping - it lets you spread your mics out a little more than you might ordinary...

I can run mics 15 ft apart and still have a nice middle...but retain some left and right-ness to the image...

I run on the fly - so I cant testify how this would work in post...

Try a tool like the Flux Stereo Tool and decrease your stereo width a tad
