I used one for a while, used it solely as a "bit bucket" (the analog inputs are very noisy) and had some good experiences with it, but also two recordings that were ruined by freeze-ups. One was in near-total darkness, where I was up in the balcony monitoring the whole time over headphones. The signals came through to the headphones and there was no audible or visible indication of trouble, but the recorder had stopped recording as I discovered when the lights came back on at the end. That's just not acceptable. The price is very nice, but I'd rather pay somewhat more and get a device that works reliably, or at least that lets you know when it has failed!
Perhaps I have a defective sample. When I tried to measure the 48 Volt phantom powering on the balanced analog inputs, I couldn't detect any DC voltage, but I've read that this has worked for some other people. Also, the countdown indicator that tells you how much time you have left on your memory card is always wrong by a lot. Maybe I should be grateful that the display is so small, it's nearly impossible to read.
All in all I get the impression that the manufacturer never put the needed resources into the development and testing of this product.
