« on: October 22, 2004, 07:50:08 AM »
Yes, thanks to Klay, from Klay.com posting on Datheads...

The manual from the Edirol is online:

http://www.roland.com/manuals/en/

Search "R1" and voila. If you have trouble opening the site (if you have old Acrobat version)

cut and paste this line into Google: "http://lib.roland.co.jp/manual/en/dl_04-03282/R-1_e1.pdf"
And do a "Save Target as"

..its only few mb.

THEN go to page 28 of the manual and see: LEVELS!!! haven't seen such good onces on a tiny thing like this.

Okok, lets read further...

I played with one of these at the AES show this weekend - very light weight/pants friendly and it does have that big record level meter.  I wonder how many people will record with the effect engaged accidentally?

They said digital input was the #1 request for a future version.
Core-sound HEB 4060s > iRiver h120
or
AT853 > AT8531 > ToddR mod SBM-1 > iRiver h120

Anyone know the MSRP on the R-1? To bad this thing can't handle flash cards bigger then 2GB. I might be tempted to try this other wise.

What is the point with the 2gb handling? if you just put in a 4gb card, it wont record??

I e-mailed edirol about the handling of a 4 gig card and got this response

The R-1 has not been tested with 4GB flash cards, but it should work as we
use FAT32 file format.  We just haven't tested it yet, because a 4GB card is
as much as the R-1.

I'm assuming they haven't tested it out because 24 bit wav has a 2 gig limit anyways..
and 4 gig cards are still pretty pricey..

I thought FAT32 could handle 2GB+ or does that only apply to 16bit ??

You can get 4GB CompactFlash cards on Ebay for $279, 2GB for $148. I'm interested to see if the R1 can handle 4GB ok.
