I don't really get it:

Rear Panel Connectors
Analogue i/o

3 x 25 way Male D-type supplied with 2m looms to 1/4" stereo TRS jacks (for mixer insert points - tip send, ring return)


No XLR jacks, and no mic preamps? So this rig is basically meant for feeding individual channels from the soundboard?!
Nice if you're a sound engineer, but too clunky for most of us...

It's very clearly aimed at guys doing live sound who don't want to spend any time and thought on running a multitrack recording (fair enough).  So just plug it into the sound board insert sockets, press one button, and there you are.

Or - you could select your favourite reasonably portable mixer or perhaps a suitable multichannel mic preamp, and turn that into a basic recorder by adding one of these devices.

Seems a good idea to me if that's a function you need to a piece of gear for.  And useless if you don't!
