Possible field recorder/mixer
« on: July 13, 2010, 11:25:33 AM »
I've been using a 16 channel Edirol board into Sonar 7 or WL for recording when I have power. While looking for possible battery-powered recorders, I found this:

Thoughts?

It says Stand alone record and I see a DC Power jack...so there is a possibility...

You like Cakewalk Pre's and D/A's? I have no experience with them.

How many channels do you want to record?

This unit only has two mic pres and will only record two channels in stand alone mode.  Maybe if you hook it up to a laptop you can record more channels?  But then you are still limited by the two mic pres.  Perhaps the mixer and control surface features are useful to you.

I agree. It may be a great unit, but if it is truly limited to only two mic pre inputs, there are many other options that are more compact and cheaper.
