Hi all,

I'm new to all this, and are looking at options. I need a portable mic-pre/AD to go with my Microtrack. I plan to use the spdif-option on the Microtrack.
I need to be able to record in stereo, and I would prefer the device to be small and handy.
I'm looking for something which isn't noisy.

So let the game begin: What are my options?

Cheers!
Thomas :)

Ditto, cept you'll have to find one used, as they're not sold anymore.

There's a T+mod for $600 in yard sale, if I'm not mistaken.

how small and handy do you need fit in a bag or fit in your pocket? open or stealth taping? ps2/ad-20 is smaller than the ua-5 may be more "handy" for you

Thanks gutys, but maybe I should be a bit more precise: I'm looking for something I can have in my pocket or maybe in a bag, which runs on batteries.

I see myself running through fields with flowers, insects, with microphones in my hands and headphones as my summerhat.

Thomas :)

also the Core Sound Mic2496 in an option.  that'll provide phantom power and will allow you to record 24 bit.  a lot of people won't recommend Core Sound products, because of some questionable business practices by Len (the owner of Core Sound).  that said, my one dealing with Len (a long time ago) was positive, and I've have some nice sounding recordings made with the Mic2496.  for reference, it's the same size as the Denecka AD-20.

i have had a ad-20 and now a ua-5
depending on your pocketbook i would say unless you need 48v power the ad-20 is great, if you need 48v then the ua-5 is great
Mics - AKG ck61/ck63 (c480b & Naiant actives), SP-BMC-2
XLR Cables - Silver Path w/Darktrain stubbies
Interconnect Cables - Dogstar (XLR), Darktrain (RCA > 1/8) (1/8 > 1/8), and Kind Kables (1/8f > 1/4)
Preamps - Naiant Littlebox & Tinybox
Recorders - PCM-M10 & DR-60D
