The boss was about to toss out a huge box of 120 meter data tapes but I was able to salvage them. If I initialize them in the tape drive, does that completely erase them and make the data unrecoverable? Irresponsible use/transfer of the cartridges could result in breaking major laws etc but I might still be able to get at least a few bucks for them somewhere.
There is at least one 90 meter - If I initialize that can I record on it in a DAT recorder?
Thanks!

probably best to degauss or send to bonded destruction company
