Title: ISO stand accessory-- do you know of one?
Post by: travelinbeat on October 27, 2011, 02:06:07 PM
I have a Manfrotto Superclamp and I just got an 099B extension pole.  my issue is that with these two items and the small assortment of other accessories I have, I am not able to "bite" the clamp downward and have the extension pole come up and away from it.  I do have a brass stud that I use somewhat regularly, but it looks like the thing I'm missing is something like a right angles stud, possible one that would lock into the more secure screw-down acceptor on the clamp itself.  Here are some pictures so that you can understand my dilemma...

Note that the extension pole is a female with a screw-down securing it.

This is the direction I want my clamp to clamp, but as you can see, my brass fitting which fits nicely into the extension pole, is shooting out parallel to the ground, and I want the extension pole to shoot north, perpendicular to the ground, like a tail from behind the mouth of the clamp.

So what I'm looking for is some kind of small right angle accessory, I guess.  Anyone have any links?

Thanks

has a round pin and will give you 360 degrees of adjustment.

I bought the Manfrotto 042 and it has a hex end. doesn't work in a jaws down setup. just to the side.

Another option is a second Superclamp and a right-angle hex pin

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=manfrotto+right+angle&gs_upl=82209l84177l2l84334l11l10l0l0l0l0l307l2323l0.1.7.1l9l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.,cf.osb&biw=1280&bih=938&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=17909334126710289857&sa=X&ei=XJ6pTvXuAsiJsAL0-oDVDw&ved=0CG8Q8wIwAQ

I went with this for two reasons. 1) A second clamp seemed like a good idea. 2) local camera store didn't have the 042 and didn't have time to order one.

Bingo.  I think the Manfrotto #203 might be just what you need.  A few discussions about it and that extension pole HERE (http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=145055.0) and HERE (http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=150249.msg1913115#msg1913115).

Now I want one of these. I told my wife I wasn't going to become a gearslut, and now I'm a rigging junkie.
