Hi everyone,
I will be getting a littlebox that can have external battery packs, so Jon said it can have anywhere between a 5-16v battery. Does it matter what voltage it's, sound better on a certain voltage or just no difference? And I'm looking at something like this

But I will also have an tamiya adapter for rc batteries, so is that a better choice having something like this?

ive been using 9.6V RC car batteries in mine and works like a charm. Also keep a 9v in it too. Does your Din-3 cable terminate in the Tamiya connector only? If so RC batt is the way to go.

I agree. I ran rc batteries for years with my old 722. IMO they're pretty damn reliable. I trust NIMH batteries way more than lithium batts ;)

It's an rc adapter, so I could use either.

What's your battery tray, 9v?
If so try and get a battery that's over 9v because the lb will draw from whichever is stronger
Or just don't put a battery in the tray until you need do do a swap, assuming the swap is during recording
I use a 7.2 rc battery I got from radio shack, not the cheapest but I needed it fast
Be sure to unplug the batteries when not in use or they will drain and if they drain all the way you killed it and It will not charge

My Littlebox has a DIN connector so I have an adapter that I use for 9V/6000 mAh DVD batteries. It can run a long time on the DVD battery, but I have a dual cable so swapping is not an issue. I've never used the internal tray although I do carry a 9V with me in case of emergencies.

I have drained my old rc batteries to DEATH before, and with a good charger, they charged up to 100% just fine after that. I wouldn't recommend doing it all the time, but when I was running battery run times I always drained them, and I never had problems with them after that ;)

did you drain them or drain them and leave them plugged in?
I was told mine didn't recharge because hey drained and being plugged in kept hm drinking above and beyond what's normal and thus caused the problem
Not sure though, my charger is a smart charger from batterysource.com

IIRC, the littlebox functions best at 9v. Jon will correct me if I am wrong.
RC batts are the way to go IMO, and they are easy to come by. The higher the capacity, the longer the run time.
Keep some 9v on the side ALWAYS just in case, but as willdmb says, the littlebox will drain the higher voltage first if you want to keep a battery in the tray.
There are also the options of 1) asking our resident cable maker Ted to fabricate you a specific DIN-3 cable to connect to your battery of choice, or 2) hacking the Tamiya connector and making your own.
Other than that I have mistakenly run it at 5v with no adverse affects, so you good a nice peiece of gear coming your way. ;)
