A friend has a JB3 that would not get past the start menu.
I reset it with a paperclip.
Now when the jb3 starts up it goes straight to the menu.
No creative info & the eax logo that popped up before & like mine does.
Just tested it & it records & plays fine. Just the startup issue?
Do I need to reset something or change a setting? Is it not rebooting when turned on & off?
Hope that made sense?

go find my thread about my issues i had starting it up
there is info in there about reset options and disc cleanup and such, probably will help you
nomadness.net is the greatest forum for this thing! you can search the jb3 forum there and find an answer to anything!

Well, it's just weird & makes me glad the buyer backed out of buying my d8.
It's recording & playing fine. For some reason it's skipping the intro & goes straight to the menu.
If you remove the battery it starts up like it's supposed to.
I'll post over on the jb3 board tomm.
Thanks

im one of the few that has sold thier dat and went with a jb3 i think, at least solely depending on it
saving for the lappy though, thats my reason

He left the batt out overnight & it works fine now. Who knows maybe one of the firmware problems you hear about.
-
what firmware is he running?
-
Whatever the latest one is. (highest one)

hmm, thats not a great idea, some people have no problems, but ive heard of more having probs then not, all i have is the lowest one that allows me to have levels, there is no significant increase in the machine with any other firmware for what i use it for, so no reason to upgrade

This is not a problem - it's a feature! I discovered this while measuring current draw when playing around with external power. The JB3 goes into suspend mode when you power it off (just like a laptop can). That way it starts up very quickly, instead of going thru the whole boot sequence. The cost is a current draw of ~60mA.
I believe it was around the 10 minute mark that the suspend shuts off to minimize battery drain (that was on firmware 1.32.02)
Try waiting 12 minutes and then power it up again - does it go thru the whole boot / EAX screen now?
And yes, if you pull the battery, the suspend goes with it, forcing a full boot the next time you power it up (or put the battery back in for that matter).
