This is a comparison test between the Schoeps CMR microphone amplifiers and the standard CMC6 microphone amplifier. Apart from a standard comparison, the CMR is tested with various preamps. Note that this test was done in my living room, see attached pics for mic placement. Not the best setup but i was going for reproducibility as opposed to overall sound quality. I tried to simulate concert-level volume based on my experience of having to run my V3 in the 30-40 dB range at most shows. I tried to keep test conditions as controlled as possible, note that the gain on the V3 is slightly higher with the CMR series, as they are slightly less sensitive than the CMC6 amplifiers. I have normalized all files to close to the same level, and also have included a Vegas .veg file for those with the Vegas software, for the easiest comparison of the different tracks. The tracks are setup here as .flac files, so you'll need to decode them to .wav to use the .veg file.
I'll save my thoughts until a few of you have a chance to listen to these. note that theres about 10 seconds of 'silence' at the end of most tracks in order to hear a sample of the noise in each setup
