i wouldn't doubt it based on this:

Only if the R-05 becomes its replacement and I don't think it is.

That is a drag.  I think some aspects of the HR suck compared to the r09... Specifically the location of the inputs.

But I do not see the new R-05 as a replacement because it apparently cannot take as hot of a signal.. that is mostly an issue for those of us running pre-amps into the line in.

I have never had an issue with the inputs being on the side but I use a right-angle connection and the problem is solved.

what I wish the recorder companies would stop doing (all of them, edirol, sony, tascam, fostex, etc) is to not have external speakers. the 09hr speaker is totally useless and I don't think my sony m10 is much better. if you want to hear playback, get headphones!

Agreed as well. The HR will be somewhat collectible in our group.  I just sold mine too.  Maybe I should have held onto it?

Count me in this number as well. I prefer the current configuration.

I love mine....Just had a custom cables made to go 2 r-angel xlr into a single 15' cable to a r-angel 1/8" mini.....works like a charm with my nak300's.... I have never had an issue with the side inputs or the line in or pre's for that matter....  Unless Edirol comes out with something that improves things further I will likely hold on to mine for a long time...

I am trying to decide which small recorder to run behind a Schoeps CMR>BB rig. R09HR is tied on top of my list with M10, now I am wondering if I should hold out for the R05.

The m10 from b&h is $275 and that comes with a nifty case that you use to carry the recorder in. I have both the m10 and the 09hr and while I have only recorded music with the 09hr, I really enjoy the m10 and carry it everywhere with a pair of binaural mics. The battery life on the m10 is so unbelievable you won't have to change the batteries for a long time.
The only downside to this is that the m10 doesn't take SD cards so if you have a few SD cards and nothing to use them in, you may want to consider selling them and buying the microsd and/or sony memory.

If I had the money for the d50, I would get two m10s because that is how much I like them. The digi in on the d50 is nice but for me, it is not necessary.

darktrain uses the m10 with his schoeps rig and little box for the stealth jobs.

how did this past weekend of jazz fest go?

R05 can't take a hot signal so I don't think it'll be suitable for what we do.

Follow Darktrain's lead and grab an M10.

OOh, you're right. That's terrible but I imagine it went on for a few weeks. Tell you what, I'll sell you mine for $60.  ;D
