« on: May 11, 2004, 01:11:23 PM »

thanx brian,
i saw that model number in the archival information section but didn't know it was the stealth stand.  do you have one?  and if so, how's the construction?  the few i seen fob looked kinda small and wobbly.  never held one in my hands.

Yup, I have one.  It's the only stand I use.  I have a 12' APIC stand that I may break out this summer at Rockygrass, but other than that - 3373 all the way.  I don't record big arena shows, so I simply don't have a need for a 17' stand.

Stability depends on the footprint.  I often run mine with the legs as narrow as they'll go to ensure a minimal footprint.  Not as stable this way vs. the legs opened up for maximum footprint, but I've not had any problems.  Besides, if I'm in a situation where I'm concerned about stand stability / resistance to people knocking into it, I just tape the sucker down.

This I NOT a tall stand, though - maybe 7'6" fully extended (including A20S shockmount) with the legs as narrow as they'll go. I almost never find myself wanting to run higher, and if I do it's always at shows where I can clamp onto someone's monster tall stand.

When I first got mine I was concerned about height and stability, but now I know better.  I think you'll like it, Bill.

I run one, if I need something beefier I just bring a clamp!

mine came in today as well... seems like I could get it up to a little over 7' if I sacrifice a little stability.

ok, ordered the bogen 3373 today, can anyone tell me what mount comes on top of it?  I am assuming it comes with a 3/8", but just trying to confirm.

Apparently, It depends.  I've seen 1/4" threads, but mine has a 5/8" stud.  Where'd you buy it and what'd the retailers/manufacturer's website say, if anything?

alright, b&h just confused the hell out of me...I guess after talking with them that the 5/8" stud is basically a male 5/8" screw...so I should be set from the get go...right?

Nope.  A 5/8" stud is just a...stud.  No threads whatsoever.  From the Archival Info forum (ahem!):

Quote
If you have the 5/8" male stud tip, the adapters you want to get to the 5/8" male threaded tip are:

Model | Starting Thread | Ending Thread

3102  |  5/8" F stud | 3/8" M thread
3366 | 3/8"F | 5/8"M

It's better to find out for sure, I think I remember ordering a 3/8>5/8 adapter based on their specs and then getting the wrong thing when it showed up. I had to pay $7 shipping to get a $4.95 1/4>3/8 adapter so I'd get it in time for a show the following week.

you'd think after all these years we'd have all of this thread adapter business figured out ::)

I need to get a new adapter for my stand, should be fun ;D

got this stand and associated parts...this thing is sweet...small and compact...I dont see myself using it in arenas as I still like the way the bogen 17 fter slides right in between the seats, and I can still get 9 ft or so out of it...but this stand will be my club stand....dont see a need to carry a bigger stand out now...
