URGENT! Recording from FM broadcast
« on: July 20, 2005, 07:05:22 AM »
Hi there!

Tomorrow I have to record a FM show broadcasted live from a Radio Station here in Spain.

I'm going to record it via RCA to minijack -> line input -> NJB3 PCM WAV 48Khz.

Anyway, I have the FM module for the NJb3, but I can't configure the FM adapter to record in WAV format, it only allows me to record in mp3. And that sucks.

Anyone has tried to record from FM radio through the FM reciever from Creative NJB3 ? Any help?

P.S: As this show is going to be recorded for Dan Gale, don't worry dude! I just was wandering about this affair, the show is gonna be recorded no matter what.

maybe you should instead of using the JB3. take your reciever to your computer and run it to your transfer program. this is what I use:

Sony FM Reciever -> RCA Jacks + 1/8 male connector -> Line in on computer -> Adobe Audition v 1.2

it works really good. I don't know what you are trying to do, i wish I could help. +T good luck  ;)

I would rather record to NJB3 personally. Unless you have a really good soundcard - preferably an external one. The noise on the line inputs of cheap soundcards is unbelievable!

At any rate I strongly suggest forgetting the FM-remote on the NJB3 because you will most probably get a much better reception with your "proper" FM receiver than the FM-remote...

Using an external A/D in front of the NJB3 would be a good option but not crucial I think.

Good luck, and feel free to ask any questions! (I've been there numerous times...)

Just like I guessed.

My FM receiver is older than me, but, sicerilly, these kind of dinosaur-pure-analog FM reciever are simply GREAT.

I'll run definetely.

FM Reciever -> RCA Jacks + 1/8 male connector -> Line in on NJB3

Thanks for your effort!

that's the path i'd go.  i have no idea what the fm module you referenced is.  and, why put something else in the path if you can go direct?
we all live downstream.

I have a M-Audiophile 2496. no noise on line inputs.

Dude you gotta get back to me and tell me how that turned out.  Did you get the Wave?  I have got a killer radio station with a Jam show on saturdays.  I wanna try this if it worked good for you.

The recording turned out GREAT!

This weekend there is a Blues Festival at the same Radio Station, but I think I could not record it completely, because on Friday i'm planning to see a live jam blues session in a pub near my house, so I want to record it live... (but maybe I take my MD with me and keep my JB3 recording at home...)

DUNNO!

Don't wander anymore, record those killer jams!
