I caught myself pumping the air with my fist, throwing elbows and getting down like an 18-year-old on his first mushroom trip on the lawn at Raleigh. But since every night is Saturday

I'm going to bump this.  I just snapped the 1/4" threads off my bogen 3333 stand.  I'd need to replace the stud.  Is that possible?  Anyone know?

I think LDW used this adapter thats just under the stands from this link.

The new Bogen/Manfrotto stands dont have threads at all,
so you must kick down a few extra bucks, perhaps a stealth price increase.
I had a 3333 with no threads but just always clamped onto it.

thanks for the link (+t)  I don't have a clamp, so that was something I considered as well.  I'd just feel more comfortable sitting on top of the stand, and letting others clamp.  I've sent an email to dave at mic supply.

No problem.

I always wanted to get one, but I live in Japan with no credit card
and didnt want to wait a month for it. I no longer have the stand.

Fixed that problem by borrowing shaggys stand for months at a time. ;D

If I understand the problem correctly, this should do the trick.  Manfrotto's "Quick Adapter" mounts tightly over the existing copper/brass top.  The 3105 model offers a 1/4-20 threaded stud which should be what you're looking for.  I use one of these on my 3364 and 3350 stands.  As an added bonus, you can remove your rig from the stand very quickly and without really tearing down if security asks you to relocate.

Thanks jason.  I believe that is basically what the New stand fitting with 3/8>5/8 adapter is from mic supply, with the additional thread adapter to fit the t-bar.  Glad to see you around here again.  Looks like you took a little hiatus of your own   ::)

I just ordered the one from mic supply.  I"ll have an extra 3/8->5/8 adapter, but it'll be nice to have just in case.  Thanks for all the help guys... +t

I just ordered this adapter from Mic Supply too. It is just what I have been looking for for my new Bogen/Manfrotto light weight 3372 8' stand that has a non-threaded 5/8" stud (typical light stand )

Quoted from Mic Supply:Stand fitting w/ 3/8>5/8 adapter
All stands sold at this site now require this fitting to accept microphones and related 5/8" mounting gear.
The real beauty of this product is it will turn ANY 5/8 or less diameter post into a mic stand. $17
