It depends. And more importantly, I asked if he planned on doing any low light, no flash concert photography. If so, f3.5+ is going to be a disadvantage even when running at ISO1600+. Most (not all) of those nice pics in that thread are in good lighting and not under the restriction of no flash. So, it's just something to remember. But there's no doubt for $100, the lens isn't bad at all.
