Efficient cardoid hand or lavalier mic for M-Audio 24/96 ??
« on: November 30, 2006, 12:37:01 AM »
We just bought a M-Audio Microtrack 24/96 portable digital recorder and are shopping for some compatible quality mics for recording voice (for ptich and wavform scientific voice analysis).

The 24/96 only supplies 30V of phantom power and we think we would like to not use the phantom power anyway in order to extend battery recording time anyway.

So it seems we need highly efficient mics or electret versions.  (We don't want to add the bulk of a pre-amp).

What highly efficent cardoid pattern, condenser, electret condenser or dynamic  mics would anyone recommend?

We'd like to buy both a corded lavalier and a handlheld/ tabletop mic...

All recommendations will be appreciated.

We will use it for some things but we record subjects in controlled conversations.  A stereo mic is of no use.  We need two mics with some isolation... one for each conversant.  Sometimes we need lavaliers and other times table tops depending on the study...
