Mic Reccomendations for a local band?
«

I am not looking for mics for myself but I am looking for a friend of mine who is in a band. They play "rock" (i.e. The Band, Dead). They just bought a Boss Micro BR (Here is a link:
http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.aspx?ObjectId=818
)
He is looking for an easy setup. I was thinking some At853's but I wanted to get some info from people who really know whats going on. He didnt say anything about how much he would like to spend but I am thinking not too much. Please dont say "get a jb3/iriver/etc..." because they are set on using the Boss Micro....

What size venues do they usually play? If you want to keep it real easy, you could get some of the Church Audio mics. There's some for sale here:

That setup comes with everything you'd need to make a recording since you already have a recording device.

They usually play in smaller venues/clubs/bars. Would these mics need the preamp/battbox to work with this particular recorder?
